Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people 65 years of age or older,
which covers most of their health expenses. Many people on Medicare buy extra insurance
coverage to fill in the gaps of what Medicare does not cover.
These policies are issued by private insurance companies and are called “Medicare
Supplemental Policies” or “Medigap” policies. These policies help cover the deductibles
and co-pays for which Medicare beneficiaries are responsible.
